Newmarket Car Clubs Main Attraction

2016 Highway 11 Cruisers year end show will be at Green Lane Go station on Sept 18, 12 - 5 pm
If you're a classic / car fan from the area, you may be familiar with the various car shows in and around town. The Highway 11 Cruisers Car Club host the bulk of them, including a Father's Day Saturday event held in a parking lot at Yonge and Mulock where one of their event sponsors, Parts Source, sits, while on Main St., on Father's Day Sunday, the Newmarket Car Club has previously featured the cars for the show there - however the number of cars in the smaller club limits Main St.'s event somewhat in size although the long running club has attendees that travel in from Barrie and elsewhere as well.

But imagine my surprise to find out my mom Mabel Pearson actually sat on the board many years ago!

Highway 11 Cruisers C.C.'s Upper Canada Mall show got too big for the Mall to host

I'm a bridge builder. Having been acquainted with both Car Clubs for a number of years now, and having promoted Cruisers' annual New years Eve bash particularly, I believe I'm just the guy that can broker having them together on one street - Main St - for the area's biggest annual car show and attraction the town has ever hosted - on Fathers Day weekend no less!
Former location for end of year Cruisers show at Upper Canada Mall
In fact I've spoken to both the downtown B.I.A. Chair Glenn Wilson and to the Highway 11 Cruisers President Danny Fachini in the past about adding the latter club to the Main St. mix since their two shows are so close together, as they kind of compete against one another so it would make sense, if possible, to do just one big show, and that is exactly what I've been working on! And they are both receptive to the idea.

Imagine 300 plus cars on and around Main St and some spillover Sponsors
So much so in fact, the Cruisers could be willing to stop holding their Parts Source show that same weekend and bring 300 cars to Main St. to make it one of the biggest car show attractions in the G.T.A., if not the biggest, also drawing from all over York Region, Barrie, Brampton and the G.T.H.A.. Imagine a car show on Main with over 300 cars, entertainment and booths! The patios and shops would rock!

On top of that, I've even configured a way to add more parking! How?

Bill Nadeau live performance
The Cruisers end-of-season Sept show attracts up to 1500 people, and it's grown so large they were told they'd have to move from the Upper Canada Mall parking lot where they'd been for a number of years and so moved it to the Go parking lot on Green Lane. But, filled with cars for the show there is then limited parking. So what to do?

They created a shuttle service provided by one of their sponsors - a car dealership in town - and this is exactly what we'd do for an event on Main as excess parking could be added by shuttling people from the HUGE Tannery Mall parking lot on Davis Drive which sits empty mostly on weekends and evenings. Light bulb moment!

Tom Pearson id proposing to bring sponsors and show to Main instead
Yes, that's right, in one fell swoop and no $, I've just added hundreds of additional parking spots and dollars to the event for Main. We could even have the Tim Horton's Train making additional shuttles along Tom Taylor Trail which would make for a short, but fun, and scenic ride to the edge of Riverwalk Commons, where visitors can easily walk over to the event.

Lucas Oil, among others, sponsors this local car
I, in fact, see the car show getting so large and renowned, it may be wise to add Riverwalk Commons to the mix for cars and booths, as I'm sure their various event sponsors including Parts Source, Maple Leaf Sports and New Roads would love the opportunity to be included for more exposure there. In past big shows the Cruiser's have brought attractions like the Toronto Rock (MLS) and other goodies to their shows along with their spectacular variety of cars and this show would become

a flagship town and Main St. event for years to come, attracting hundreds more to Main St from out of town.

Cruisers at U.C. Mall in 2014
I'm very excited about this and am itching to make it so. These types of special events are right up my alley having put on dozens of events myself including 20 in the past 10 years at Riverwalk and Fairy Lake and also at Canada's largest (Toronto) convention centre. Danny knows it, and he is excited about the possibility too, and I'm sure so too the numerous club members many of whom were in attendance when I addressed the issue at the Tuesday Cruise Night on their mic and who seemed like the idea of being in a show on Main. And we can look forward growing it each year, adding much needed extra revenue to the town coffers and the businesses - and is attractive to young and old alike!

Remember Gremlins and Pacers?
Monday Madness meets Motor Cars

Danny and I also discussed the possibility of once a month car shows on Main St. that would again include live street entertainment, like Bill Nadeau, which we could run on an off night such as a Monday or Tuesday to bring additional business again onto Main through the summer. Who knows? all we can do is propose it.

Tom Pearson... until next time!

Happy New Year!

Father's Special Day Offers Contests & Freeway Tickets

Mother's Day is traditionally the busiest day of the year in the restaurant / hospitality industry . Not so with Father's Day! I'm not sure why we don't think our fathers warrant dinner or a night out on Father's Day as much as Mom on her designated special day, but perhaps a Sunday of relaxing has been Dad's mantra along with his choice of BBQ, and that's o.k., but should you feel dad is worthy this year, Tom's Top 10 offer great deals and specials and cover all the food groups. From best buffets to roadhouse to top fine dining restaurants, Tom's Top 10 covers it.

Now, if dad's a rocker and you want to treat him to a local performance featuring a band grounded with classic rock overtones - for example a band that recorded a song for their 3rd album with legendary Randy Bachman ( B.T.O., Guess Who) playing on it - look no further than right here with Whitby's Hello Beautiful coming to Newmarket's Col. Mustard's for a one night only gig on Fri May 30. Brought to you by Arthur Jr Music and 90 Nickel Entertainment, this is another exciting show these guys have lured to town. I can have tickets delivered to you in Newmarket by TPE's new MM&M's services - TP Mobile Mobile Media - putting the disabled to work through ticket distribution. Txt 289-221-0928!  For advanced tickets.

Maybe you want to introduce him to your music and a night of Hip Hop with an incredible show on Friday June 27 @ Stellar Hall and Event Centre featuring one of Jay Z's crew - Freeway!

Or he's a rocker but too hard to get out? How about this great find at Canada T's, 255  Main St. S, Newmarket, where they not only carry rare and old albums but some unopened, and includes stocking original publicity photos of greats like Neil Young used in papers like the Chicago Times! In addition to old vinyl's and paraphernalia; rare posters and art work made from old albums also accentuate the shop including turntables and record care kits. An original Alice Cooper poster caught my eye but Neil Young is my total fave so a thorough return look / see is yet to come!

U want 2 win a wack Custom T-Shirt off the rack to add to Dad's special day from Canada Custom T's? Something humourous or retro? Tell us in 10 words why your Pops is Tops! tpeproductions@gmail.com Deadline 5pm Sunday June 8 2014.

And since you're already on Main St now after smartly checking out the cool records and retro stuff, you can take Dad over for a beer or some munchies at the brand new Hungry Brew Hops pub & eatery, featuring a Red Seal Chef / menu to accompany 40 international craft brew taps. If Dad's a beer fan or connoisseur, he'll love you for life should you be on shaky ground!

Maybe Dad's a car fan? Rekindle his inner car boy by taking him to a cool car show on Fathers Day such as the Highway 11 Cruisers Car Club's Fathers Day car show being hosted at  PartSource in Newmarket at Mulock & Yonge. Cool cars, music, and literally tons of fun!

Dads are worth your time on Father's Day. They are not the bumbling idiots stereotypically played on T.V. who it's okay to make the punch line of every joke about, and the receivers of one as well. Most are not the abusing child and wife beaters either. In real life, many built and saved this country in war, and helped provide the freedoms we all take for granted.

As written at the time of world war,

" We enjoy freedom only because brave men stand by ready and willing to defend against a very dangerous and terrifying foe".

Have a good one!

TP Entertainment Newmarket Events March 2014

Maybe I should have been a juggler. It's entertaining, and seems I do that with most everything in life anyway so why not? Right now I'm juggling whether to make posters for the road hockey event so I can print them and get them out tomorrow, or to work on special table talker menus and invites for the Mar 26 Grand Opening of Col Mustards' Ladies Night entitled, Girls GoGo Wild Wednesdays? Hey, how else can you dress up a Wed night!? Ha. Anyway on top of that, there are the logistics of the budget or lack there of for the costs of the youth event, and tying up little things like press releases and vendors, and oh yea a little matter of having players for the event that until recently had no location to call home for 2104.

Looking for B4play Lady Hosts & presenters of products, services
It's a long story why the Annual Friendly Youth Road hockey Tourney has had a tough go this year, but come hell or high water there will be game play! Ha. The emphasis for tyhis event in the past has always been participation and not compettition and will continuue to be so for 2104 whith the emphasis on getting the whole family out to play. Game play goes  Sat March 15 10:30 am - 5 pm. Pre register team or on site.

NEW LOCATION: There will be some friendly "tourney" play at the new 395 Mulock Dr ( Town of Newmarket offices) location but there will also be ample opportunities for anyone - including mom and or Dad  to play a bit of road hockey and maybe have some hot chocolate and hot vittles with Newmarket's Piccola Italia providing the food services. Bring a stick if you can or one will be lent.

LOCATION: The Night before, Fri Mar 14 at 8:30 pm, there is also an Opening Face Off Party at Big Daddy's 446 Davis Dr Newmarket, held as a FUND RAISER for the FNY Road Hockey Challenge Youth Award - the Mike Thornhill Friendship Award - given a youth showing leadership in the community. The Opening Face off party is a licensed party, traditionally mostly for the adults, like organizers, volunteers, and members of the public featuring live entertainment, including for 2014, Vocalist Keyboard Whiz - formerly of the band North of 7 - Carl Braund, as well as Psychedelic Country Rockers Clean Fill Wanted, Reggae Country-Rock sensations The Yappers, and Hip Hoppers end the night off hosted by the way cool Krhyme Syndicate.Tickets only $5 at the door.

The next TPE DryDance Production is also upcoming Sat Mar 29 for which I've yet to think of the monthly events theme let alone make a poster!

Meantime, I'm also juggling whether to pursue some blog activities for other business types and services whilst maintaining a pulse on my daughter's schooling / needs - having a tumor in her leg, painful, and unable to be removed. Makes one understand that as long as we have our health we may be okay, but one never knows. So, meantime, juggling it shall be, until the pins begin to drop! Gulp! Then I'll be in trouble.

The doorbell just rang and the slapshot radar equipment is here! Now this will be a fun activity! Ha, maybe I'll bring it out to both events as a funds raiser tool! See you on the streets! Until Next Time!

Highway 11 Cruisers Newmarket Car Club Not The Newmarket Car Club -

When is the Newmarket car club not The Newmarket Car Club? When the Newmarket car club you are referring to is one based in Newmarket and not actually called "The Newmarket Car Club", but called the Highway 11 Cruisers Car Club, which often is confused with the smaller, actually named, Newmarket Car Club. Confused yet? Okay I'll simplify it all.The Highway 11 Cruisers, sometimes referred to, mistakenly, as The Newmarket Car Club - which The Newmarket Car Club in name does actually exist - but is not the Highway 11 Cruisers Car Club which hosts the big shows in the area such as the Upper Canada Mall car show as well as the big Mega Speed show in the International Centre in March where in 2014 this Newmarket car club, called the Highway 11 Cruisers C.C., are being featured as a top club. Not The Newmarket Car Club!

Pres Danny middle wishes happy birthday to member
I recently got to spend a little time with some group members at a birthday and over the sold out New Year's Eve at their annual gala with proceeds to Sick Kids, and they are a really down to earth bunch that all share an enthusiasm for cars which was apparent as we all viewed some cool footage of a funny car take off that one of the members had videoed having been lucky enough to get close access. Or unlucky! Ha.

Besides the bigger exciting events, the Highway 11 Cruisers also has weekly fun get togethers such as Tuesday car runs starting from Harveys Restaurant on highway 11 in Newmarket, and does a run along its namesake highway - sometimes to Aurora, Richmond hill, Thornhill , Markham, Vaughn or beyond York Region other times maybe towards Bradford, Georgina or Barrie. Have this Newmarket car club cruise through your "Hood!"

Door Prizes
The C.C. is also active in the community with fundraisers and involved in awareness campaigns such as the Friendly Neighbourhood Youth Road hockey Challenge (Car!) and H11 Cruisers host events such as the Annual Family Glow Bowling night which the club will be hosting on February 15th at Stellar Lanes Bowl, 1220 Stellar dr Newmarket. Everyone is welcome. Glo-Bowling Entry is $22/person includes 2 hours of glow bowling, shoe rental, pizza and soft drink. There will also be tons of door prizes and raffles.
DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 3RD, 2014 For more details visit the Highway 11 Cruisers FB events page
